Our Story
Free the Children is an international charity and youth movement creating awareness about child labour around the world. The organization was founded by Craig Kielburger in 1995 at the age of 12. It all started when Craig was flipping through the Toronto Star and was truck by a story of Iqbal Masih. Iqbal was born in Pakistan and at the age of four he was sold into slavery. At the age of 12, Iqbal lost his life defending the rights of children. Craig gathered a small group of his grade seven classmates from Thornhill, Ontario. Today, Free the Children has more than 1.7 million youth involved in 45 countries.
